Big Takeover Forum Debuts Today!

10 July 2006

With great excitement, I’m happy to announce that The Big Takeover Forum (BTF) is open for business! While we provide space for readers to comment and engage in discussion for every article that we post on BigTakeover.com, the Forum is a place where readers can discuss anything that we have yet to cover (and anything we have already covered, of course!).

The precursor to BTF is the Yahoo! Big Takeover Group, which has been a lively community for readers of the magazine for the past seven years. While the Yahoo! Group has been a valuable resource, we encourage those who are active there to join us here in BTF. Our Forum is much more robust and easy to use than what is offered by Yahoo!—we think that you’ll agree once you switch over to BTF. Your presence here will increase the value of the discussions and the volume of site traffic we receive. Increased traffic will allow for us to continue with the development of BigTakeover.com. Please support The Big Takeover by using our Forum rather than Yahoo Groups.

We have worked hard to set up BTF as a welcoming place for music fans of all sorts (as well as fan of other forms of culture). We don’t want to you to waste your time looking for discussions that interest you, so we have set up small number of sections with categories to keep the conversations more organized. It is very much appreciated by the staff if you keep your discussion relevant to the category in which you post!

There is the General Discussion section, where we encourage you to introduce yourself! Here, you can discuss Big Takeover Print Articles and BigTakeover.com Articles (we love hearing what you have to say in response to our work!), Music, Film, Television, Books, Comics, Print and Electronic Media, as well as anything else that might be out of the scope of the above (please keep the odds and ends posts in the Everything Else category!)

We also are proud of how The Big Takeover attracts many musicians to our magazine and website. In appreciation, we have set up a section called Musicians’ Community, where you are welcome to promote your band or musical project, search for players, offer your services as a player, or sell your gear. We look forward to hearing stories about bands that formed through meeting in BTF!

In order to maintain a healthy level of respect and decorum in BTF, I urge you to read the posting guidelines so that we can spend our time discussing the subjects that matter most to us instead of engaging in silly flame wars.

That’s it! Please register, choose an avatar if you’d like, and begin posting!
